The worst is yet to come: Unemployed Americans should hunker down for more job losses
Conditions in the U.S. labor markets are awful and worsening. While the official unemployment rate is already 10.2% and another 200,000 jobs were lost in October, when you include discouraged workers and partially employed workers the figure is a whopping 17.5%.
While losing 200,000 jobs per month is better than the 700,000 jobs lost in January, current job losses still average more than the per month rate of 150,000 during the last recession.
we can expect that job losses will continue until the end of 2010 at the earliest. In other words, if you are unemployed and looking for work and just waiting for the economy to turn the corner, you had better hunker down. All the economic numbers suggest this will take a while. The jobs just are not coming back.
Carter defends his handling of Iran hostage crisis
Former US President Jimmy Carter said he was pressed by his advisers to attack Iran during the hostage crisis there more than 30 years ago but resisted because he feared 20,000 Iranians could have died.
Fifty-two Americans were held hostage for 444 days. Carter said Monday that one proposed option was a military strike on Iran, but he chose to stick with negotiations to prevent bloodshed.
Carter is so desperate to salvage his presidential reputation, that many of his overseas speeches have undertones that are down right anti American. This story shows his timidity in dealing with international crises.

Time for some honest truth from the Obama administration – to date, this White House has created a serious problem with its credibility.
Fox News is headlining a story today of a husband and wife team’s experience in which they face demands from the EPA – an agency for which they work – that they remove a video documentary that is highly critical of the Cap and Trade effort.
“Cap and Trade” is a political euphemism for a Democrat plot to create a new and very high tax on American families. Obama and his people claim the bill aims at climate change – a program pushed to extremes by former VP Al Gore. Gore’s claims are highly controversial.
“Cap and Trade: was narrowly passed in the House – largely a result of a lot of bare knuckled pressures and intimidation by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and many of her far left support groups. The Bill now faces a vote in the Senate that would send it to the White House for a certain support from Obama himself.
Needless to say, the top EPA bureaucracy brass cant afford to allow employees to be openly critical of a major program such as Cap and Trade is claimed to be. In short, they cant allow facts and truth about Cap and Trade to be published or made available to normal Americans. As I have frequently noted, “Cap and Trade”, if passed by the Senate, would mean you would immediately owe an additional $3,000 in taxes – according to the Heritage Foundation’s experts on such matters.
I don’t have an extra $3,000, plus I’m not ready for $5 a gallon gasoline or huge increases on such necessities as groceries. Passage of Cap and Trade would impose all these added costs.
Fortunately, public pressure seems to have chalked up another win, and its reported Cap and Trade Senate votes will not come now until next Spring and maybe never. If Cap and Trade is a pending issue next spring, every Congressman who voted for the House version would face serious attack on his or her having cast such a vote, and the third of the Senate facing reelection would be under assault as well.
Cap and Trade may not be called for a vote in the next year, and that would mean the whole liberal scheme would have to start all over – back in the House. Hopefully, enough Republicans would be elected to replace Democrats to allow us to kill Cap and Trade in the House.
Bottom line – Obama’s administration has been avoiding the truth on Cap and Trade, and that’s not the only time they’ve been caught tampering with the truth.
Increasing evidence is arising nationwide regarding falsified figures in White House claims regarding its incredibly costly jobs bill dishonestly labeled as “stimulus”. We now know jobs claimed as being created did not exist or involved projects that never started. Today, we have an article from ABC news in which jobs creation was reported from Congressional districts that don’t exist and which never existed.
Meanwhile, Obama struggles with his very stupid decision to close Gitmo at a time in which he had zero knowledge of the situation – Obama was making good on a far left campaign pledge to close Gitmo. Logic, reason, and fact played no part in the decision.
Meanwhile Obama has proven himself a shameless bald faced liar regarding his campaign pledge to never raise taxes on Americans who make less than $250,000 a year, Cap and Trade is an obvious and undeniable violation of that pledge, and any and all Democrat schemes and scams regarding their obsession with a government take over of the health care system, it would be yet another tax on all Americans.
The least people should be able to expect from government is candor and truth. We get neither from Obama, plus he is very secretive and suspicious about other issues – especially where Islam is involved.
He hopes questions will go away. So he forces a couple of government employees to pull down their factual documentary exposing Cap and Trade, and his far left followers use all sorts of dodges in attempts to diminish his opponents – such as liberal claims the tea party movement is something other than a genuine grass root reaction to government extremism. Democrats are learning just how inaccurate their assumptions are. Check the latest results in Virginia and New Jersey. Anger runs deeply.
We also begin to see questions arising from the NY 23 special election. After all, Obama’s own ACORN was involved in that election and we witnessed what they can actually do in Minnesota’s Senate race.
Obama should be worried these days about the growing questions of how honest his government is seen by normal America. But long ago, he should have focused on ending the controversy regarding his actual place of birth and other details of his early life. Instead, he has spent a million and a half dollars funding lawyers to shield him from having to admit the truth.
Unlike Obama’s administration reports, this one is the truth.

Obama Ally Code Pink Justifies Fort Hood Terrorist Attack, Cashes in on Massacre in Veterans Day Fundraising Appeal

Following on the heels of their macabre Afghan war protest at a White House Halloween party that targeted children of military families for psychological abuse, leftist Obama ally Code Pink issued a statement justifying the terrorist attack at Fort Hood as opposition to the war from officers and put out a Veterans Day appeal seeking to raise money off the Fort Hood terrorist attack.
Signed by top Obama funder Jodie Evans, the appeal was published at Code Pink’s website on Veterans Day and sent out the same day to the group’s e-mail list. The terrorist attack at Fort Hood is cited three times in the fundraising letter.
(NOTE: Code Pink is notorious for its protest demonstrations, many of which reveal an actual anti American sentiment within the group. Most notorious, perhaps, is their demonstrations aimed at forcing US Marine recruiters out of the far left town of Berkeley. Cindy Sheehan, famed for many anti American efforts, has often supported Code Pink demonstrations,)
As appalling as cashing in on the mass murder of 14 innocents is, Code Pink tops that by invoking sympathy for the alleged terrorist as a reason to give money to Code Pink–even putting his act of terrorism on the same moral plane as the recent protest resignation of a former officer who left his diplomatic post in Afghanistan over Obama’s war policy:
“This Veteran’s Day, you can support Under the Hood and the soldiers who walk through their doors with a cash or in-kind donation…
“Click here to see how else you can support Under the Hood (in-kind donations accepted too).
“Our soldiers clearly need more care; the last thing they need is to be put into more harm’s way. Even US military officers think so–Matthew Hoh resigned from the Foreign Service in protest of the lack of clear mission and achievable results in Afghanistan, and of course the Ft. Hood shooter was a Major who did not wish to be deployed to Afghanistan.”
Think about that. Code Pink says a mass murder terrorist act against unarmed soldiers is the moral equivalance of a protest resignation.
Code Pink is even more direct in their justification for the terrorist attack allegedly by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan in a statement posted to their website that they encourage opponents of America in Afghanistan to send to President Obama:
The recent shootings at Ft. Hood and the resignation of top Foreign Service officer Matthew Hoh demonstrate how even our military officers are opposed to US strategy in Afghanistan.
Code Pink claims the money will be used to fund a campaign operated out of a coffee shop near Fort Hood called Under the Hood that preys on soldiers and their families. However, the donation link goes to Code Pink’s fundraising pageand not to Under the Hood’s website
Under the Hood was opened earlier this year in Killeen, about a mile from Fort Hood, as a joint effort of the terrorist support groups Code Pink and Iraq Veterans Against the War (both groups participated in the World Tribunal on Iraq which openly supported the terrorists in Iraq.) The cafe is run by the wife and step-mother of servicemen, Cynthia Thomas, whom Code Pink took under their wings.
The cafe is a reprise of pro-communist efforts during the Vietnam War to undermine morale on the homefront by exploiting the vulnerabilities of soldiers and their families with subversive cafes opened near military bases across the country.
Reportedly Fort Lewis and Fort Drum have also been targeted with subversive cafes in recent years.
The name of the coffee shop, Under the Hood, is a wordplay on the subversive nature of the effort in Killeen.
In the fundraising letter, Code Pink uses the words of Cynthis Thomas to describe the true aim of Under the Hood–to get soldiers to quit fighting for America:
“For the soldiers who visit regularly, Under the Hood has become a home and we have become family. They tell us about their hardships, they ask for help, they seek information about their rights, and sometimes they find the strength to say NO to war” (empahsis added.)
Under the Hood’s home page includes a testimonial from Spc. Victor Agosto, “Afghanistan War Resister“:“The support I have received from my family at Under the Hood has helped me take the liberating leap from obedient soldier to war resister.
Code Pink opens the fundraising appeal with a cynical tug at the heart strings:
“This Veterans Day, our hearts ache for the soldiers and their families affected by the recent shootings at Ft. Hood. Our hearts also ache for the soldiers and their families who continue to be affected by war in Iraq and Afghanistan on a daily basis.”
Over the course of its seven year existence, Code Pink has caused enormous anguish to our soldiers and their families by calling our troops murderers, assassains, baby killers, terrorists and more in protests at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the White House Halloween party and the Berkeley Marine Corps officer recruiting centers as well as in numerous public statements.
Code Pink has a documented history of working with state sponsors of terrorism who wage war on our troops and of supporting terrorist groups that target our troops and our Middle East allies.
When the U.S. liberated Iraq in 2003, Code Pink opened Occupation Watch, an office in Baghdad similar in purpose to Under the Hood in its goal to subvert the war effort by trying to get soldiers to quit fighting for America.
Code Pink’s history of working with America’s terrorist enemies has not prevented President Obama from allying himself with Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans. She was tapped by the nascent Obama presidential campaign to co-host its breakthrough Hollywood fundraiser in February 2007. She was subsequently appointed a bundler for the campaign.
Jodie Evans appeared with Obama at several high dollar events throughout the campaign. She personally donated tens of thousands of dollars to Obama’s presidential campaign and affiliated Democratic party campaign vehicles.
Last month, Obama allowed himself to be filmed and photographed with Jodie Evans at a $30,400 per couple fundraiser in San Francisco as she handed him a propaganda packet about Afghanistan. Evans was wearing Code Pink propaganda attire when she met Obama, a coup that she will surely share with her allies including Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez to demonstrate her influence at the highest levels of the United States government.
Blue Star mother Becky Davis, who has three sons in the military–all of whom have seen service in Iraq and Afghanistan–was outraged when she read the appeal from Code Pink seeking to raise funds from the Fort Hood massacre.
Davis founded a group called Military Families Voice of Victory with her husband several years ago. She keeps tabs on subversive groups like Code Pink as part of her efforts.
Davis told Big Government:
“I am appalled and outraged that Code Pink gets a pass from the mainstream media over the damage it does when they fund subversives and actively work to undermine the mission and morale of our troops, which can be deadly to our troops and our fellow Americans.
“Code Pink’s fundraising letter is morally bankrupt and tantamount to grave robbing.
“Code Pink’s justification for the terrorist attack at Fort Hood as opposition to the war in Afghanistan by officers is seditious.
“I hope the government thoroughly investigates Hasan’s connections to domestic groups, regardless of where that might lead.
“As the mother of three servicemen, I wonder why President Obama works with Code Pink, when they so openly work with our nation’s enemies.”
Code Pink has been widely reported as softening their stance on Afghanistan after a recent trip there. Jodie Evans denied that in an interview with Donald Douglas of American Power:
I asked her about Wednesday’s report in the Christian Science Monitor, ” ‘Code Pink’ Rethinks Its Call for Afghanistan Pullout.” Ms. Evans emphatically rejected the thesis of the article. Medea Benjamin was “misquoted,” she told me. Code Pink wants to bring the troops home, now! — there’s been no “rethinking” of the group’s demand for withdrawal of U.S. forces…She said she’d “been on the phone all day” clarifying Code Pink’s position on the war. A troop withdrawal remains the objective, but the U.S. should stay to focus on improving quality of life.

"These people are soldiers in a volunteer army," he told The Post during a sitdown at a Woodside, Queens, cafe. "They expect to see combat. They know the danger."
"Rest assured the slain terrorists at Ft. Hood are in the eternal hellfire," al-Khattab writes on his Web site.
Army shrink Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, reportedly shouted "Allahu akbar" -- Arabic for "God is great" -- before unloading more than 100 rounds at soldiers preparing to ship off to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Amanda Foote, whose husband is in Iraq, went to visit a soldier who survived the onslaught yesterday and said she was stunned that the base had been hit by such horror.
"I told my husband the other day, 'I thought I would never say I was happy you were in Iraq.' I never thought it would be safer for him to be there than to be on post at home," she said.
Like Hasan -- whose pro-homicide bomber rhetoric on the Web had caught the authorities' attention -- the FBI is well aware of al-Khattab's dangerous online lunacy, but they are unable to do much about it as he just skirts the line between protected speech and inciting violence.
"It's terrible. It's reprehensible. For the mosques it's a p.r. nightmare. He's probably putting members of the mosque in danger from attacks from non-Muslims, but he's not breaking the law," said Barry Covert, a First Amendment lawyer in Buffalo.
He said that unless al-Khattab incites people to immediate acts of violence, the Constitution protects him.
The Woodside extremist spends his free time annoying mainstream Muslims in front of mosques around the city, handing out literature and denouncing the US.
Imams in Manhattan are appalled by his message and have tried to get the police to stop him from spreading his radical message.
"We spoke to law enforcement about them, because we are disgusted with their behavior," said Shamsi Ali, an imam at the Islamic Cultural Center of New York, a mosque at 96th Street and Third Avenue.
He said that at a recent Muslim parade, al-Khattab and his followers were preaching violence, but despite complaints from the congregation, the NYPD could only watch.
"They say that as long as there is not a physical threat, there's nothing that they can do." said Ali. "They say it's a free-speech issue."

White House adviser says immigration reform advancing
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats and Republicans in Congress are working together to craft an immigration reform bill that could become law as early as next year, a senior White House adviser said on Sunday.
That legislation could create a path to citizenship for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants already in the United States, David Axelrod, senior advisory to President Barak Obama, told CNN's State of the Union with John King.
"I think some good work is being done on both sides of the aisle to achieve that," Axelrod said, referring to the partisan divide on Capitol Hill.
"We have to have better security at our borders and we are developing that," he said, alluding to a key concern of conservative critics who scuttled an attempt at immigration reform under former President George W. Bush.

The most contentious question surrounding past and future attempts at immigration reform is whether to, and how to, ease rules governing the route to citizenship for people who have entered the country illegally.
"We have to hold accountable and responsible the 12 million people who are here illegally," Axelrod said. "And they have to pay a fine and a penalty, and have to meet certain requirements in order to get in line to earn citizenship," he told CNN.

Why the sudden interest in jobs from Washington Democrats? Perhaps they’ve finally realized the massive boondoggle they call a stimulus package has failed to get Americans back to work. It’s about time.
Conservatives have said all along that government spending is the most inefficient and ineffective way to promote economic growth. Last January, the RSC introduced H.R. 470, a real recovery plan that recognizes economic growth comes from the private sector, not the government. It’s time to stop weighing down the economy with unprecedented deficits and a job-killing legislative agenda. But its main restrictions will to terminate foreign nationals appropriating US workers jobs.
In the future this data base could be established at airport terminals for departures and arrivals. It will be an ongoing fight against the opponents such as US chamber of Commerce, ACLU, Council of Foreign Relations, business organizations, agriculture and other groups. It is certain to be a bargaining chip in shoving through another Comprehensive Immigration Reform package, that will devastate America. An overflow of poor, uneducated humanity, looking for free health care will start pouring into our nation. Around the world rumors are already flying that if you slip across the sieve of a border, you can get work as low income and get all your taxes back by lying on the tax form. Tax credits for non-existent supported children is an industry, that costs the US taxpayer billions a year. If Napolitano thinks that --ALL--Democrats will accept another trillion dollar budget deficit, cause by a new BLANKET AMNESTY.
That bridge is still available in Brooklyn..? Very few Republicans will accept another AMNESTY? Not too much chance from Independents. Nor will legal immigrants or ethnic Americans who were born here, fought in four wars. Even people from South of the border are very reticent of allowing more people in, when there is 15 million unemployed.
