“One Nation” rally this week end in DC -- bringing together the far left
Jealousy is obviously driving far left extremists to attempt to make a showing in DC to rival the half million Glenn Beck was able to bring to the Capitol several weeks ago. One key difference is Beck’s rally was quite patriotic – the one Saturday is not likely to be. Beck’s rally was one with a muffled political message, the one Saturday will openly present far left extremism – participation will include groups that are openly socialist. The Communist Party is also a participating member.
Clearly Saturday’s rally was spurred on by Beck’s success in attracting ordinary Americans to the Capitol. The far left just had to try matching it.
Obama’s own political group, “Organizing for America” defines the rally as the “biggest progressive demonstration in decades.”
The Democratic National Committee’s group that lauds Obama’s legislative policies, praises the “One Nation, Working Together rally”.
The far left organizers of this week end’s display of political power, have an advantage – labor unions and similar groups can draw crowds by simply demanding members attend. Union bosses have that sort of power and are never reluctant to use it.
(Some weeks back, the giant and radical SEIU union sent busloads of ranting and raving demonstrators into a upscale neighborhood, crowded surrounding private property, and terrified the young son of the target of their protest. Police stood by, powerless to provide protection.)
It should be noted the SEIU was a source for what violence attended last summer’s town hall meetings. SEIU thugs pummeled a wheelchair-bound conservative vendor in Missouri, and similar thugs incited violence at other town hall meetings in other states.
Yesterday, the FBI and the Labor Department announced an investigation is in progress, focusomg on SEIU’s president, Andrew Stern, for what are euphemistically described as “financial irregularities”.
SEIU finances and accounting operations have long been directly entangled with those of another Obama organization – ACORN. ACORN, of course, has faced investigations and prosecutions for voter fraud in more than a dozen states, and was secretly filmed giving aid and comfort to what they thought were prostitution groups using underage illegal alien girls.
Stern is also involved with infamous left wing extremist, George Soros. Stern is said to have spent $5 million of union dues to buy into George Soros “Democracy Alliance”. SEIU donated almost $30 million to Obama’s presidential campaign. No wonder Stern is said to have been the most frequent visitor to the Obama White House. Campaign money does buy access – and buys it whether the membership wants its dues spent to acquire it or not.
The real intent of this week end’s rally is breathing air into the deflated lungs of Democrat political hope. Pundits are united in predictions of a major GOP sweep when voters go to the polls in November. Not only are many Democrats trailing in the polls, but there are distinct indications of fading enthusiasm on the part of would-be Democrat voters. They see failure on the horizon and many will kist shrug and walk away, rather than stand in lines waiting to vote.
Some political experts say the gap in enthusiasm could give conservative candidates boosts of as much as eight percent. This would mean many marginal GOP candidates will end up winning. A few pundits are now seeing a possibility the GOP could win as many as 100 seats when the dust has settled. Republicans need 39 victories to retake control of the House.
Those attempting to read something into the crowds attending this week end’s far left rally, cannot depend on conventional evidence. The raw power of the unions means they can force attendance.
Some of those union members, no one knows how many, will be voting against their union’s selections when they are alone in the voting booth. Union bosses lose political control of their members when those members vote as ordinary Americans rather than as union members. For union bosses, many things have changed – including the political viewpoint of many of their members – no one can be sure just how many since the bosses still have a threat of retaliation against members who are caught not toeing the line in union loyalty.
Voters should tune in briefly to see exactly who is attending the rally. That analysis will reveal just how extreme the support is. Among the organizations involved are: the National Council of La Raza – the radical pro illegal immigration group, the Chicago Democratic Socialists of America, Code Pink – the radical anti-war group that verbally assaulted wounded troops at a DC hospital – tried to force Marine recruiters out of Berkeley – and is reported to have provided aid to terrorists fighting American troops in Iraq, and the International Socialist Organization. Other groups are also involved, but that brief list provides enough insight to make the point.
In short, the Saturday rally, will present the face of the political opposition facing ordinary Americans, especially those ordinary Americans who support the tea party movement.
“Gaze on, and beware” is an appropriate Saturday slogan.

Today’s top political news:
Crist Is Slipping in Bid for Senate
Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, battered by rivals as a political opportunist, is losing ground in his quest to build a bipartisan voter coalition and win a U.S. Senate seat as an independent. The latest attack came Wednesday in a new Democratic Party ad featuring clips of the ex-Republican, who is courting Democratic voters, praising George W. Bush and Sarah Palin and saying he is "about as conservative as you can get." Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, right, is now running for Senate as an independent.
Mr. Crist had been leading the state's three-way Senate race in surveys taken after he abandoned his failing Republican primary campaign in April and switched to independent, presenting himself as a middle-of-the-road alternative to both parties. His campaign envisioned a formula of centrist Democrats, liberal Republicans and independents—a counterweight, strategists thought, to the tea-party movement boosting his chief competitor in the race, GOP nominee Marco Rubio.
But surveys now show Mr. Rubio, a former speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, taking the lead and Mr. Crist dropping into a battle for second place with Democratic nominee Kendrick Meek, a congressman from the Miami area. Mr. Rubio is ahead among independents and Mr. Meek is beating Mr. Crist among Democrats, according to a Mason-Dixon poll released over the weekend.
The survey showed 40% of voters backing Mr. Rubio, 28% Mr. Crist and 23% Mr. Meek.

And they're out! Congress flees DC to campaign
Battle-weary members of Congress are coming soon to neighborhoods near you to press for re-election, more eager to campaign before angry constituents than compromise in Washington on tax cuts, child nutrition or a federal budget.
Majority Democrats facing tough re-election fights rebelled in both chambers Wednesday against their leaders' decisions to call off controversial votes, pass a temporary bill to keep the government running and head home.
The measure to adjourn passed both chambers despite the protests. In the House, it passed by one vote — Speaker Nancy Pelosi's — after 39 Democrats joined Republicans in voting no.

Loyalty to Obama Costs Democrats
Democrats who have been thorns in the president's side are doing well in some of the toughest districts for their party, from Alabama to the steel belt of western Pennsylvania. But swing-district Democrats who have voted with the president in Congress are struggling, even if they're now asserting their independence. In swing districts, House Democrats who've resisted some party initiatives are polling strongly.
Democrats running against the White House prevail, the result could have a profound impact on the party's ability to govern. More than 30 Democrats with proven records of independence are campaigning on this theme, and scores more have started trying to do so late in the game. Even if the party maintains control of the House, it almost certainly won't have a functioning liberal majority, Democratic aides and lawmakers say. Conservative Democrats would be emboldened to go their own way, especially if many colleagues who stuck with the president lose.
